\n\tFoo Fighters<\/a> have returned with their first song since 2023, releasing \u201cToday\u2019s Song\u201d on Wednesday to commemorate the rock band\u2019s 30th anniversary. <\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with the song, Dave Grohl also shared an extensive letter and audio recording for fans, where Grohl thanked drummer Josh Freese, who was let go from the group back in May,<\/a> and paid tribute the band\u2019s former longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died back in 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOver the years, we\u2019ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak,\u201d Grohl said on Wednesday. \u201cMoments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can\u2019t go it alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete,\u201d Grohl continued. \u201cSo we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music<\/a> and memories that we shared with each of them over the years. Thank you, gentlemen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cToday\u2019s Song\u201d is the band\u2019s first song since their 2023 album But Here We Are, and it comes following a turbulent few years for Foo Fighters. Hawkins\u2019 death devastated the band and their fanbase as they lost their longest-tenured drummer. Grohl also drew significant press himself last year after revealing that he had a child outside of his marriage<\/a>. And then there was Freese\u2019s dismissal two months ago.<\/p>\n

\n\tOf Hawkins, Grohl wrote, \u201cYour name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivaled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence,\u201d Grohl wrote. \u201cWe all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAside from the new song, Foo Fighters are hitting the road for some international dates later this fall, playing in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 2, Singapore on October 4, Tokyo on October 7, Osaka, Japan on October 10 and Mexico City on November 14.<\/p>\n
