Earlier this week, Paisley performed \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d at the start of Game 3 of the World Series matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. <\/p>\n
That game \u2014 which the Dodgers won 6-5 \u2014 lasted 18 innings, and finished up nearly seven hours after Paisley\u2019s performance, per The Associated Press<\/a>. <\/p>\n An 18-inning World Series game is rare \u2014 it\u2019s only happened one other time. <\/p>\n But apparently for Paisley, lightning strikes twice.<\/p>\n Seven years ago, when a Game 3 matchup between the Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox extended to 18 innings, the three-time Grammy winner and Dodgers fan was also on hand to sing the national anthem.<\/p>\n He\u2019s been attached to other lengthy World Series games, too. His two other performances of \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d at the World Series also went long; an 11-inning game in 2017, and a 10-inning game last year in Los Angeles, according to The Associated Press<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cI should be \u2018Mr. More Baseball,\u2019\u201d the singer told The Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s the new nickname.\u201d <\/p>\n What Brad Paisley said about his tie to the 2 longest World Series games<\/p>\n On Monday night, when the Dodgers vs. Blue Jays matchup was in the 16th inning, Paisley had a bit of deja vu: \u201cI was going, \u2018There\u2019s no way this is happening again,\u2019\u201d he told The Associated Press<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd here we go,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd it was really neat. I sat there in the seat when it ended … just staring, like, \u2018OK, what does this even mean?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n His wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, also noted the significance of the moment, which came a day ahead of the singer\u2019s 53rd birthday. <\/p>\n \u201cIs it your fault it went 18 innings again?\u201d she commented on his Instagram video post<\/a> from the performance. \u201cNice of the @dodgers<\/a> to win for your birthday!\u201d<\/p>\n Before his history-making performance this week, the \u201cShe\u2019s Everything\u201d singer said in an interview for an MLB program that it would be \u201cstatistically impossible\u201d for a repeat 18-inning game, Variety<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n \u201cI was like, I just want to get the words right,\u201d Paisley said of that performance seven years ago. \u201cI had no idea that there would be major cosmic ramifications.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, Paisley is offering up his unique skillset to other sports.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m available for football games, too,\u201d he told The Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cIf anybody wants, you know, another quarter or two out of their team.\u201d<\/p>\n
