Rosie O\u2019Donnell is asking for prayers for her 28-year-old daughter<\/a>, Chelsea, who has had multiple felony charges in the past few years and was recently sentenced to time in prison.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Oct. 29, the comedian and former talk show host uploaded a childhood photo of Chelsea to\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0and asked for prayers in the caption. \u201cMy child chelsea belle \u2014 before addiction took over her life,\u201d O\u2019Donnell wrote. \u201cLoved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added the hashtags \u201caddiction\u201d \u201clove\u201d and \u201cfamily,\u201d and also said the post was meant to bring awareness.<\/p>\n

Celebrity friends, like Ricki Lake, Gloria Estefan, Jenifer Lewis and Cheyenne Jackson, offered support in the comments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chelsea had her probation revoked and was sentenced to prison on Oct. 22, documents from the Marinette County Wisconsin Circuit Court obtained by\u00a0TODAY.com<\/a>\u00a0show, following three arrests last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking about her daughter\u2019s struggles, O\u2019Donnell told People in a statement, \u201cI have compassion for those struggling with addiction \u2014 Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell, the mother of four children, adopted Chelsea in 1997. Nearly 10 years ago, O\u2019Donnell used social media for help when Chelsea, then 17,\u00a0went missing for a week<\/a>\u00a0in August 2015. She updated fans of\u00a0Chelsea\u2019s safe return on X<\/a>, writing at the time, \u201cChelsea has been found and is safe in police custody \u2014 thank u all for the help and light.\u201d A New Jersey man\u00a0was arrested for housing Chelsea<\/a>\u00a0and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and distribution of obscenity to a minor.<\/p>\n

In recent years, Chelsea has frequently appeared in headlines due to her run-ins with the law. According to records from Marinette County Wisconsin, Chelsea has been arrested three times for charges involving felony child neglect and drug possession.<\/p>\n

She was arrested in November 2024 for two felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, a felony count of possession of narcotic drugs and two felony counts of bail jumping. Chelsea pled guilty in January and was sentenced to six years probation, per court records.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell addressed her daughter\u2019s struggles in a message shared on\u00a0Substack<\/a>. \u201cShe is doing so well now in spite of the tabloid fodder,\u201d she wrote at the time about Chelsea, in part, \u201cShe\u2019s working on herself aren\u2019t we all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd she has the right to do it without strangers (sic) judgement,\u201d she continued. \u201cI wish i could delete my fame for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell said she was proud of her daughter. She concluded, \u201cWe raise them we do r best we all fail in so many ways but rain or shine same name or not that\u2019s my girl fierce and determined.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
