One of the favorite traditions in my Mexican-American household has always been D\u00eda de los Muertos. It\u2019s such an important time to honor the generations of people who came before me and to reflect on how they paved the way to where my family is today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking to celebrate the Mexican holiday with the Fort Worth community, head to Sundance Square Plaza this Saturday for the return of downtown\u2019s annual Catrina Fest. Find out more about the festivities below.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also, the Lone Star Film Festival is back through Nov. 5 at a time when movies and TV are hot topics in the city. The schedule includes a lot of great <\/strong>film screenings and panel conversations<\/strong><\/a> you don\u2019t want to miss.<\/p>\n

Honor ancestors at Mexican holiday celebration<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Vibrant cultural activities, Aztec dancers, vendors and live music will fill downtown. A Catrina contest begins at 5 p.m. on the best-dressed versions of the elegant skeleton figure central to the holiday. <\/p>\n

Revel in Fort Worth\u2019s creativity at return of film festival<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

More than 85 short and feature film screenings are showing in Fort Worth\u2019s Cultural District. Directors, producers and actors will discuss their work during Q&A sessions at the nearby Fort Works Art gallery.<\/p>\n

What:<\/strong> Lone Star Film Festival<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> Oct. 30-Nov. 5; find the complete schedule here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Celebrate beauty, traditions of Japan at botanic garden<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Experience authentic taiko drumming, tea ceremonies and music throughout the two-day event. Guests can browse Japanese art and gift vendors.<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 1-2<\/p>\n

Where: <\/strong>Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth<\/p>\n

Dance the night away at spooky Halloween party<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

DJ Deville will spin tracks inspired by the spooky season. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their best costumes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
