The Sixers on Thursday announced that they\u2019ve exercised Jared McCain\u2019s third-year team option for the 2026-27 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Spotrac<\/a>, McCain\u2019s third-year option as the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft is approximately $4.4 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The deadline for rookie-scale team option decisions is Friday. There was zero suspense about whether the Sixers would pick up McCain\u2019s option. He showed tons of offensive ability in his rookie season<\/a> and averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 23 games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Duke product hasn\u2019t played since suffering a left knee lateral meniscus tear on Dec. 13 of last year. In late September, he tore the UCL in his right thumb.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all part of the process,\u201d McCain said on Oct. 15.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019ve just got to trust that it happened for a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the Sixers haven\u2019t set a timeline for McCain\u2019s return to play, he\u2019s made recent progress in his rehab.
