Four companies are laying off more than 400 workers in Dallas-Fort Worth, putting further strain on Texas\u2019 slowing job market<\/a> as national layoffs also pick up speed.<\/p>\n

Security firm Job1USA is cutting about 117 employees at six locations in Texas, including 81 in Dallas-Fort Worth. Most are security guards or security guard managers. The company did not respond to a request for comment, but noted six addresses in its letter to state officials matching UPS distribution facilities. <\/p>\n

That included 31 layoffs at UPS facility in Arlington, 25 in Fort Worth and 25 in Haslet. There are also layoffs in Houston, San Antonio and Round Rock, the company\u2019s letter said.<\/p>\n

UPS announced layoffs in August<\/a> that included 61 employees at a facility in Dallas. The shipping giant said two days ago that it would cut 48,000 jobs in management and operations<\/a> jobs worldwide.<\/p>\n

Healthcare and consumer products company Tekni-Plex is laying off 64 workers at its plant at 4700 S. Westmoreland Road in Dallas, as the company \u201cis ceasing most operations\u201d at the location.<\/p>\n

Layoffs are expected on Dec. 26.<\/p>\n

\u201cA few employees will be kept on as the facility transitions to a warehouse and distribution center, and some employees will be offered relocation,\u201d Tekni-Plex\u2019s Sue Vanhoy said in a letter to Texas officials. <\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, Tekni-Plex has carefully analysed this situation and its available options, and it is with regret that I must report to you that as a result of this action, a number of positions located at 4700 S Westmoreland Rd, Dallas, TX 75237 will be eliminated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Separately, Louisville, Ky.-based food maker Congo Brands is cutting 155 workers at its facility in Lewisville, after losing contracts to distribute Alani Nu and Celsius energy drinks. Layoffs are expected to happen at the end of 2025. Congo has its Commercial headquarters office in Lewisville. <\/p>\n

Alani Nu was sold to Celsius Holdings in a $1.8 billion deal in April. Employees affected by the layoff are mostly in sales roles. <\/p>\n

And Fort Worth-based bank Colonial is laying off 130 workers \u201cdue to the planned wind-down of Colonial\u2019s servicing division.\u201d Layoffs will happen during the first seven months of 2026, the bank said. <\/p>\n

The bank ended its mortgage origination business in 2023 to focus on full-service banking and mortgage servicing. <\/p>\n

Congo, Job1USA, Colonial and Tekni-Plex did not respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n
