The Associated Press previously reported that <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-refugees-immigration-afrikaners-south-africa-04d8b794277c8380b041dda1e9725c83\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the administration was considering<\/a> admitting as few as 7,500 refugees and <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/south-africa-us-refugees-trump-afrikaners-16e34760b93cfa66f15b4cd8380743c1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mostly white South Africans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The memo said only that the admission of the 7,500 refugees during 2026 fiscal year was \u201cjustified by humanitarian concerns or is otherwise in the national interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>News from Trump\u2019s trip to Asia:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"rte2-style-ul\" id=\"rte-84c7c682-b1b4-11f0-8aa9-c3e7135923ab\">\n<li><b>Trump announces plans to lower tariffs on China:<\/b> The president told reporters aboard Air Force One that <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-xi-china-trade-war-4c19a752c97828246c08f60f0dc54c79\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the U.S. would lower tariffs<\/a> implemented earlier this year as punishment on China for its selling of chemicals used to make fentanyl from 20% to 10%. That brings the total combined tariff rate on China down from 57% to 47%.<\/li>\n<li><b>Nuclear weapons testing:<\/b> Trump appeared to suggest the U.S. will <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-nuclear-weapons-testing-7a4626d2f9f8df62aa250b2acded51fd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resume testing nuclear weapons<\/a> for the first time in three decades, saying it would be on an \u201cequal basis\u201d with Russia and China.
