{"id":344437,"date":"2025-10-31T01:19:15","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T01:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/344437\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T01:19:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T01:19:15","slug":"stock-market-today-live-updates-84","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/344437\/","title":{"rendered":"Stock market today: Live updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in New York on Oct. 30, 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Angela Weiss | AFP | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Stock futures rose Thursday night as investors pored over a couple of key earnings reports from Big Tech companies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> added 17 points, or 0.05%. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P futures<\/a> gained 0.5%, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a> added 1%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AAPL\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> posted quarterly results after market close Thursday, capping off a big week for tech results. Amazon shares rallied more than 13% after the e-commerce giant said its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/30\/amazon-amzn-q3-earnings-report-2025.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cloud computing unit&#8217;s revenue increased 20%<\/a> in the third quarter, exceeding\u00a0Wall Street&#8217;s estimates. Apple, meanwhile, rose about 3% on the back of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/30\/apple-aapl-earnings-report-q4-2025.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">strong fiscal fourth-quarter earnings<\/a> and forecast for the iPhone maker&#8217;s December quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Streaming leader Netflix added more than 3% after the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/30\/netflix-stock-split.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced a 10-for-1 stock split<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re in this period where the government is shut down &#8230; so we really have to look at these earnings and see how are companies faring, how are their consumers faring,&#8221; Courtney Garcia, senior wealth advisor at Payne Capital Management said Thursday on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Closing Bell Overtime.&#8221; &#8220;The fact that we&#8217;re continuing to see this all come out positive, I think this is a generally good sign for the economy moving forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>U.S. stocks are coming off of a lackluster session as each of the benchmark indexes closed Thursday in the red. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0fell nearly 110 points, or about 0.2%. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a> lost 0.99% and 1.58%, respectively, dragged lower by losses in big-name tech stocks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/META\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Meta<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a> amid concerns about increasing AI spending. Meta recorded its biggest one-day loss in three years.<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump and President\u00a0Xi Jinping\u00a0on Thursday reached <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/30\/trump-xi-south-korea-rare-earth-tariff-trade-war-nvidia.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a one-year trade truce<\/a> after their meeting in South Korea, soothing some investor concerns about the possibility of an all-out trade war between both nations.<\/p>\n<p>Trump agreed to cut tariffs on China tied to fentanyl by 10% effective immediately, reducing overall levies on Chinese goods to around 47%, while Beijing agreed to a one-year pause on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/09\/china-expands-rare-earth-export-restrictions-ahead-of-possible-trump-xi-meeting.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">export controls<\/a>\u00a0for rare earths it announced earlier this month. Other areas of dispute, such as export controls on sales of Nvidia&#8217;s advanced AI chips and the divestiture of U.S. TikTok operations, were unresolved, however.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. stock indexes are on track to close out a winning week and month. The S&amp;P 500 has gained 0.45% so far this week, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq and Dow are up roughly 1.6% and 0.7%, respectively, week to date.<\/p>\n<p>October \u2014 which has experienced some of the largest one-day losses in stock market history \u2014 has seen the S&amp;P 500 climb 2% over the month. The Nasdaq has jumped nearly 4.1% and the 30-stock Dow is up 2.4% month to date.
