{"id":344534,"date":"2025-10-31T02:11:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T02:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/344534\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T02:11:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T02:11:13","slug":"high-potentials-aiden-turner-talks-two-part-romance-with-morgan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/344534\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;High Potential&#8217;s Aiden Turner Talks Two-Part Romance With Morgan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>SPOILERS: This post contains details about the High Potential, Season 2 episode \u2018The One That Got Away\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSeason 2 of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/abc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ABC<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/high-potential\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">High Potential<\/a> sent audiences into the midseason finale with a little eye candy and a big cliffhanger, both courtesy of guest star <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/aiden-turner\/\" id=\"auto-tag_aiden-turner\" data-tag=\"aiden-turner\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aiden Turner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAhead of this week\u2019s episode \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/10\/high-potential-showrunner-high-speed-chase-midseason-cliffhanger-1236601561\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The One That Got Away<\/a>\u2018, the British actor teased Deadline that his insurance investigator character Rhys \u201csort of makes [Kaitlin Olson\u2019s Morgan] fall in love with him a little bit\u201d in the two-part mystery <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/10\/abc-midseason-premiere-dates-high-potential-american-idol-1236600124\/\">that continues<\/a> Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 9pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI mean, I enjoy being eye candy,\u201d said Turner. \u201cThere was a big responsibility I knew, that wasn\u2019t necessarily weighing on my shoulders, but being a fan of the show myself and watching it with my lady Jessica, they\u2019ve got such a great loyal fan base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFollowing a museum art heist, Rhys joins LAPD\u2019s major crimes unit to help recover the stolen painting, much to Morgan\u2019s annoyance. As she reluctantly bonds with him while going rogue to investigate the theft, newly introduced Capt. Nick Wagner (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/steve-howey\/\">Steve Howey<\/a>) brings the hammer down and takes Morgan off the case, prompting her to drown her sorrows in a drink with Rhys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs Morgan gets him shirtless in his hotel room, she spots a scar on his shoulder matching a thief from a previous heist, as well as a big wooden crate about the size of the stolen painting.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/178855_0374.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"817\" width=\"1024\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tAiden Turner in \u2018High Potential\u2019 (Mitch Haaseth\/Disney) <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTurner explained that this week\u2019s episode was \u201cso intense,\u201d given the steamy make-out sesh and a <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/10\/high-potential-showrunner-high-speed-chase-midseason-cliffhanger-1236601561\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">high-speed chase<\/a>, that the writers \u201cended up deciding to extend it into two.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cSo, that was a really nice sort of a compliment because that first one was really tight, and now they\u2019ve sort of extended it over, so they ended up writing a lot of more interesting stuff,\u201d he added. \u201cThey gave a lot more backstory about me, and then Kaitlin\u2019s character divulged a lot more about her\u2014not necessarily insecurities\u2014but she became a little bit more vulnerable. So, that led to us sort of getting together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRead on about Aiden Turner\u2019s experience joining Season 2 of High Potential as a guest star, as well as what\u2019s to come in the midseason premiere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: Tell me what it was like joining the cast as this mysterious outsider.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>AIDEN TURNER:<\/strong> Any time you join a new cast, there\u2019s always sort of expectations, worries people aren\u2019t gonna be nice, director\u2019s gonna be barking at you, you know. But to be honest, everyone was so kind, so welcoming, so professional. It really felt like a family from the first morning, at 7 a.m. everybody was just so polite and welcoming and excited. It was just so much fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: And your character Rhys, he\u2019s this insurance investigator in the art world, and he dresses very fancy. Did you enjoy his wardrobe?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> Yeah, it really made me feel like I was back at a private school in England, near Cambridge, just outside London. I always had to wear a shirt and black pants, shoes, always smart. I didn\u2019t have a little pocket square when I went to school, but there\u2019s nothing like feeling like you\u2019re being dressed by a huge designer like Ermenegildo Zegna or something. The suit fit like Tom Ford, the pocket square, the waistcoat, it was nice.\u00a0It was really good. They didn\u2019t make me wear a tie, which sometimes it makes you feel like you\u2019re being strangled. I felt like I was walking along Savile Row in London.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: Did that help you kind of build the character too and get into his mindset?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> I think the wardrobe always really makes you feel like the character. In other roles, I\u2019ll be put in a leather jacket, which I never wore before, t-shirt, jeans, boots, and you feel kind of grungy and private detective. So, the wardrobe really makes an actor feel like the character, and these guys did just such an amazing job, from the shirts and the suits, the shoes, the briefcase, it was just so much fun. To be honest, they made it easy for me to slip in the character.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/178855_0275_e160f3.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"734\" width=\"1024\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tSteve Howey, Aiden Turner and Kaitlin Olson in \u2018High Potential\u2019 (Mitch Haaseth\/Disney)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: Tell me about building the dynamic with Kaitlin where you\u2019re at each other\u2019s throats at first, and then by the end of the episode, you\u2019re in each other\u2019s pants.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> [LAUGHS] Yeah, that\u2019s pretty much how it went. In the beginning, when Rhys was introduced in the bullpen at the precinct there at Fox Studios, the writing is just so good. You could tell that Kaitlin\u2019s character Morgan, she was peeved that there was a another consultant, and and that she couldn\u2019t sort of handle the the case on her own. I mean, that\u2019s how sort of Morgan reacted. \u201cHang on, there\u2019s another consultant. I\u2019m the only consultant, why is there another consultant?\u201d And so, the bickering started then, and then when, Nick Wagner, played by Steve Howey, right at the end of the introduction to Rhys, he said, \u201cYou two can ride together to figure out the case and start working on who stole this piece of art.\u201d It\u2019s just the banter back and forth which I\u2019ve always loved, especially there\u2019s a lot of that in in England. You know, when you watch Love Island and stuff, the girls and the boys are always like, \u201cWell, if we have some good banter, then then there could be some romance.\u201d And that\u2019s what we had from the get-go.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: I love Kaitlin\u2019s work and she really does something incredible with this role\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> She does, doesn\u2019t she? I mean she\u2019s quick witted, he\u2019s got some great one-liners, she\u2019s got a great personality, she\u2019s a hardworking woman, three kids, and she sort of tears herself in half with looking after her children, and then working so well at solving these cases and helping the LAPD find the criminal. I mean, she\u2019s amazing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: <\/strong><strong>Also it\u2019s nice to see, even if it\u2019s short-lived, her get lucky. How did you feel about being the eye candy of the episode for that scene?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> I mean, I enjoy being eye candy. There was a big responsibility I knew, that wasn\u2019t necessarily weighing on my shoulders, but being a fan of the show myself and watching it with my lady Jessica, they\u2019ve got such a great loyal fan base. I definitely wanted to make it look good, seem real, and give the fans basically what hopefully they\u2019ve been looking for. You know, after 16 episodes, she hasn\u2019t\u2014she\u2019s got close to having a romance. And I feel like, within the show, you kind of see her longing for a good man. So, I felt like it was a big compliment for me to be the man that was lucky enough to win the audition and to be lucky enough to be on the show with such good writers and a great director, and such a great talent like Kaitlin Olson. And so I really didn\u2019t want to screw it up. So, I really worked hard on trying to make it as authentic and as real as possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/178856_0410.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"1024\" width=\"819\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tAiden Turner in \u2018High Potential\u2019 (Bahareh Ritter\/Disney)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>DEADLINE: And then of course, there\u2019s the big twist at the end where we\u2019re kind of led to believe that he\u2019s possibly the thief. So can you tease what\u2019s to come after the hiatus?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TURNER:<\/strong> These two worked together in the beginning, they\u2019re bickering, and then all of a sudden, they sort of share some some of their past. Rhys gives some insight that he may not be exactly what she thinks he is, which is this pompous, high class, art recovery specialist that\u2019s well traveled, and he starts\u2014not to give too much away\u2014but tell a lot about his upbringing. It sort of makes her fall in love with him a little bit. He also goes out of his way to really help her look good in front of the police. She has some kind of little problem with Wagner because he has sort of a problem with her, and that she\u2019s not a cop, and why she\u2019s getting all this attention. He\u2019s brand new, so I think there\u2019s a little conflict there with him being from a LAPD family for so many years. I can\u2019t really talk about too much. That first episode was so intense, and there was so much action and so much happened that, they ended up deciding to extend it into two, and then it sort of spread that over two hours. So, that was a really nice sort of a compliment because that first one was really tight, and now they\u2019ve sort of extended it over, so they ended up writing a lot of more interesting stuff.
