However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced a nationwide recall effort concerning this common drug\u2014here\u2019s how to know if your supply is affected.<\/p>\n<p>The agency\u2019s October 28 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/ires\/?Event=97850\" target=\"_blank\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-label=\"enforcement report notice\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"Shop Now\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">enforcement report notice<\/a> says that 3,186 bottles of Tylenol Extra Strength 500 mg caplets pose a risk to the public due to \u201cdefective containers.\u201d The report does not further elaborate why the containers are considered defective, or what consumers should be looking for. The recall was first initiated on October 21 but not publicly announced until Wednesday\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p>The following product details were provided:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Product Name: TYLENOL (Acetaminophen)<\/li>\n<li>Strength: Extra Strength \u2013 500 milligrams (mg) per caplet<\/li>\n<li>Package Size: 24 caplets per bottle<\/li>\n<li>National Drug Code (NDC): 50580-378-04<\/li>\n<li>Lot Number: EJA022<\/li>\n<li>Expiration Date: 04\/30\/2028<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The pharmaceutical and medical technologies giant Johnson &amp; Johnson Consumer Inc., based in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, was named as the distributor. Meanwhile, Kenvue Brands of Summit, New Jersey, is the listed recalling firm. In 2021, Johnson &amp; Johnson announced that it was turning its consumer health business into a separate company, now known as Kenvue, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/texas-tylenol-autism-texas-rfk-trump-3b39d3ac55b3b766b44c8fb03bad8b5e\" target=\"_blank\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-label=\"Associated Press\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"Shop Now\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA labeled this recall as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/industry-guidance-recalls\/recalls-background-and-definitions\" target=\"_blank\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-label=\"Class II\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-name=\"Shop Now\" data-module=\"content engagement\" data-position=\"embedded links\">Class II<\/a> incident, suggesting that the \u201cproduct may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,\u201d but \u201cthe probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a lawsuit against Kenvue and Johnson &amp; Johnson\u2014accusing them of misleading consumers and hiding potential risks for pregnant women.
