Charges have been filed against a second suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male\u00a0at 5330 North Braeswood Boulevard about 7:15 p.m. on\u00a0September 19.<\/p>\n
The juvenile male suspect, 15,\u00a0was\u00a0referred to the Harris County\u00a0Juvenile\u00a0Probation Authorities on a\u00a0murder charge.\u00a0Names and booking photos of\u00a0juvenile\u00a0suspects are not releasable.<\/p>\n
Another suspect, Braelin James, 17, is charged with murder in the 337th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of James is attached to this news release.<\/p>\n
The victim is identified as Kenneth Payne, 15.<\/p>\n
HPD Homicide Division Detectives\u00a0G. Rangel and\u00a0H. Montealegre reported:<\/p>\n
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting victim at a hospital at 7600 Beechnut Street about 7:50 p.m. Witnesses stated the victim was involved in a\u00a0disturbance at a gas station\u00a0at 5330 North Braeswood Boulevard. Officers learned two groups were involved in a physical altercation at the gas station. As they were leaving, a suspect(s) fired shots towards their vehicle, striking the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.<\/p>\n
The victim was later identified as Mr. Payne.<\/p>\n
Further investigation identified Braelin James as a suspect in this incident.\u00a0HPD officers with the Southwest\u00a0Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team arrested him on unrelated charges on\u00a0October 1\u00a0and he was subsequently charged for his role in this\u00a0fatal shooting.<\/p>\n
Investigators identified a juvenile male as a second suspect in this incident. He was subsequently charged and on Thursday (October 30),\u00a0officers with the Southwest\u00a0Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team arrested him.<\/p>\n
