{"id":346933,"date":"2025-11-01T02:11:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T02:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/346933\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T02:11:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T02:11:15","slug":"robert-englund-honored-with-hollywood-walk-of-fame-star-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/346933\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Englund honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame star \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Glendale-born actor Robert Englund became the latest star to receive a star on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/tag\/hollywood-walk-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hollywood Walk of Fame<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Englund is best known for his rendition of Freddy Krueger in the original 1984 horror film \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His star is located in front of Larry Edmunds Bookshop, Englund\u2019s favorite bookstore that focuses on film and theater history. It was also where his former Hollywood roommates worked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be here without the fans,\u201d Englund said at the unveiling. \u201cThanks for supporting me, thanks for going down rabbit holes on the internet (and) finding my old movies,&#8221; Englund said.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Roth and Heather Langenkamp, who co-produced and co-starred in films, recalled some of the memories they had from working with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRobert is not just a horror royalty. He\u2019s truly a gem in every way,\u201d Roth, who co-starred with Englund in the comedy-horror movie \u201c2001 Maniacs,\u201d said. \u201c(He\u2019s) a cinematic and theatrical treasure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Langenkamp, who played opposite Englund as Nancy Thompson in \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street,\u201d said she will never forget how well he brought his character\u2019s voice to life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was gravely. It was sneering,\u201d Langenkamp said. \u201cThere was a little spittle involved. It set your teeth on edge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Glendale native took his first acting class when he was 12 years old and quickly developed a passion for it, according to a biography provided by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>The actor honed his craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts at Oakland University near Detroit, eventually returning home to California after spending five years performing plays on the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Englund landed his first major role in the 1974 crime film \u201cBuster and Billie.\u201d He also acted in other films, including \u201cStay Hungry\u201d and \u201cBig Wednesday,\u201d during his early career.<\/p>\n<p>His breakout role was in the 1983 NBC sci-fi miniseries \u201cV,\u201d in which he played Willie, a resistance fighter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the miniseries\u2019 success, Englund wanted to expand his talents and auditioned for what would become \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street.\u201d Director Wes Craven took a chance on Englund for the role of Freddy Krueger, a character who needed the theatrical background Englund had.<\/p>\n<p>Englund went on to perform as Kreuger in all seven entries of the \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street\u201d franchise and in the crossover film \u201cFreddy vs. Jason.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His acting earned him The Life Career Award, which is given by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films to performers for their work within those genres.<\/p>\n<p>Englund\u2019s star is the 2,826th to be imprinted on Hollywood Boulevard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Glendale-born actor Robert Englund became the latest star to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":346934,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5123],"tags":[1582,276,28071,2961,224,5337,53],"class_list":{"0":"post-346933","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-los-angeles","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-california","10":"tag-hollywood-walk-of-fame","11":"tag-la","12":"tag-los-angeles","13":"tag-losangeles","14":"tag-movies"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/115472019241787954","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/346933","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=346933"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/346933\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/346934"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=346933"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=346933"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=346933"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
