{"id":347098,"date":"2025-11-01T03:48:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T03:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/347098\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T03:48:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T03:48:16","slug":"trade-deadline-might-be-right-time-to-deal-giants-evan-neal-jalin-hyatt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/347098\/","title":{"rendered":"Trade deadline might be right time to deal Giants&#8217; Evan Neal, Jalin Hyatt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is the end near for a Giants draft bust?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though the once-benched Deonte Banks has clawed his way back into the starting lineup in an injury-ravaged secondary, receiver Jalin Hyatt and guard Evan Neal both <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/26\/sports\/jalin-hyatt-a-healthy-scratch-in-giants-rematch-vs-eagles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were healthy scratches last week<\/a> against the Eagles. <\/p>\n<p>It is likely the Giants won\u2019t need a healthy scratch Sunday against the 49ers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/31\/sports\/2025-nfl-trade-deadline-rumors-live-updates-latest-news-transactions-and-rumblings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL trade deadline is looming Tuesday<\/a>, and it might be the moment to call time of death on salvaging the careers of the 2023 third-round pick (Hyatt) and 2022 first-round pick (Neal) in New York if another team offers a late-round pick swap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Actually, the Giants might have to make a decision sooner than Tuesday. If cornerback Rico Payton is going to be activated from injured reserve Saturday, a spot on the 53-man roster needs to be cleared either via a release, a trade or moving a player to injured reserve for at least four games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hyatt has 11 catches for 79 yards in 21 games over the past two seasons. Charles Wenzelberg \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>Why hasn\u2019t it clicked after Hyatt\u2019s promising rookie season?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s just a number of factors that would be involved,\u201d receivers coach Mike Groh said while declining to specify any. \u201cBut there\u2019s still time for him. The player I\u2019ve seen, the person I\u2019ve been around, he handled [a healthy scratch] like a pro.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Neal, who switched from right tackle to right guard in the offseason, has been a healthy scratch in all eight games so far. He took first-team reps in training camp but fell to third string.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe asked Evan to make the transition. I think he\u2019s embraced it,\u201d offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo said. \u201cI would see him more as a guard. Perhaps the Giants will learn from their mistake of hanging onto Neal too long, where his trade value is hurt because he is a half-season rental at about $550,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Giants ruled out CB Paulson Adebo (knee), CB Cor\u2019Dale Flott (concussion), CB Art Green (hamstring) and DL Chauncey Golston (neck). If he can\u2019t go, rookie RT Marcus Mbow is next up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>S Jevon Holland (knee) and Payton (groin) are questionable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The secondary is in rough shape.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CB Korie Black, who was on the Jets practice squad Oct. 20, could start.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWork with a bunch of the guys that we have,\u201d head coach Brian Daboll said, \u201cand they all have to be ready to go.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>RBs coach Ladell Betts has no doubt how Cam Skattebo will handle his rehab from a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLazy is definitely not a word I would use for Skatt,\u201d Betts said. \u201cEvery situation is different.
