The San Antonio-based grocery chain opened its first locations in Frisco and Plano in 2022, and in just those handful of years, we’re all obsessed, and our tortilla supplies are fully stocked.

Its 10th store opened in Rockwall this week, and it doesn’t have plans to slow down anytime soon. H-E-B has broken ground on the following locations slated to open next year: Forney in early 2026, Mid-Cities in mid-2026 and allegedly the first and only Dallas location in late 2026.

Eventually, Denton will be getting two H-E-B locations. One has already broken ground, and the other has set a construction start date of June 15, 2026.

A Grocery Store with SEC Energy

There were hundreds of people lined up to celebrate the opening of H-E-B Rockwall, and the very first person in line had been camped out at the front since 5:30 p.m. the day before. Every time a new H-E-B opens, Texans show up and show out, clearly.

The new Rockwall location is at 1600 E. Interstate 30 at the southwest corner of I-30 and S. John King Boulevard. It’s open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Soon, Joe V’s Smart Shop, by H-E-B, will open in Irving. Last week, on Monday, Oct. 20, the company posted an announcement video on its TikTok that the budget-friendly grocery store will be opening soon.

User deborahrueda0 reported that all the construction equipment has been cleared and that the employees were getting prepared for opening day. It’s located at 2407 W. Airport Freeway. This will be the concept’s third location in Dallas.

A spokesperson for Trader Joe’s confirmed with the Observer that there are plans to open a brand new location in Frisco; however, they don’t have a location or timeline to share with us just yet.

There are five Trader Joe’s currently in Dallas, one in Coppell, and (almost) three in Collin County (one in Plano and two in McKinney). The third location in McKinney is expected to be completed by Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025. An opening date has not been set.

The most ambiguous of H-E-B’s lofty plans for North Texas domination is the first store in Dallas proper. After a bit of community controversy, the store is progressing slowly. We think with any luck, Dallas will have its first store in 2026.

What a tease.

A new H-E-B opened in Rockwall this week.
