CHICAGO (WLS) — A teenage boy who was shot to death on a West Side sidewalk on Friday afternoon has been identified.<\/p>\n

Police said the drive-by shooting happened in the University Village neighborhood’s 1300-block of West Grenshaw Street around 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

A 15-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up, and someone inside fired shots, police said.<\/p>\n

The victim, shot in the chest and leg, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died.<\/p>\n

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the boy as John Thomas.<\/p>\n

Area Three detectives are investigating.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.<\/p>\n
