(File photo by Chris Stone\/Times of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>Military bands that were scheduled to perform at a Fleet Week concert in Balboa Park announced Saturday that they must cancel due to the government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>The 2 p.m. free military and veteran appreciation concert will go on as scheduled at Spreckels Organ Pavilion, but without Navy Band Southwest and Marine Band San Diego.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego Fleet Week Foundation CEO Larry Blumberg made the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fleetweeksandiego.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual event<\/a> has been curtailed this year. Multiple Fleet Week events <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofsandiego.com\/military\/2025\/10\/27\/fleet-week-san-diego-cancels-broadway-pier-events-amid-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have been canceled<\/a> or changed due to the government shutdown, including those that had been set for Broadway Pier beginning Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>READ NEXT<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Navy Band Southwest plays the National Anthem at a 2023 ship christening.
