{"id":348991,"date":"2025-11-01T22:54:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T22:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/348991\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T22:54:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T22:54:12","slug":"iris-haim-condemns-honorary-degree-granted-to-activist-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/348991\/","title":{"rendered":"Iris Haim condemns honorary degree granted to activist mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" album=\"true\" data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\">Iris Haim, mother of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/news\/382027\" target=\"_blank\" data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">hostage Yotam Haim<\/a>, who was kidnapped to Gaza and mistakenly killed by the IDF, criticized Tel Aviv University\u2019s decision to award an honorary doctorate to anti-government activist Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan Zangauker was released last month in a deal with Hamas.<\/p>\n<p data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\">In a Facebook post, Iris Haim called the decision \u201cmorally bankrupt,\u201d saying, \u201cSome people leading the campaign to return the hostages have lost their self-respect &#8211; self-respect erased at the expense of other families who did not shout or stand in the spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\">Noting that such a title does not reflect reality, she added: \u201cA degree from a university is not true honor, just like a degree from the Hostages Families Forum any other temporary body is not an honor to anyone. Real honor is self-respect, and it was plundered during a time of distress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\">Haim stressed, \u201cAnyone who bestows honorary titles for inflammatory speech and incitement against a single person &#8211; even if it\u2019s against the Prime Minister &#8211; should examine the values they\u2019re passing on to their students and children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-v-2a4c3726=\"\" data-v-e580db1b-s=\"\">\u201cI write this with pain and a sense of responsibility,\u201d she concluded. \u201cLet\u2019s maintain respect.
