After taking a massive hit on what was later called a targeting penalty, Florida<\/a><\/strong> wide receiver Dallas Wilson<\/a><\/strong> headed to the locker room. The play resulted in Georgia<\/a><\/strong> safety KJ Bolden\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> ejection.<\/p>\n

The play resulted in Wilson\u2019s first catch of the day, which went for seven yards. He left the field with just over a minute to play in the first half as Florida and Georgia eventually went into halftime tied, 10-10.<\/p>\n

Wilson entered Saturday\u2019s rivalry game with 11 receptions for 167 yards and three touchdowns. He was expected to take on a bigger role in the absence of Vernell Brown III<\/a><\/strong>, who was ruled out for Saturday\u2019s matchup. Dallas Wilson and Eugene \u201cTre\u201d Wilson III<\/a><\/strong> were the only receivers to catch passes in the first half.<\/p>\n

Neither offense got much going in the second quarter on Saturday, but Georgia later got a late field goal to pull things to a 10-10 tie with Florida before the break. The Bulldogs totaled 197 yards of offense in the half, led by 119 on 14-of-21 passing from Stockton. He also threw for a touchdown, finding Dillon Bell<\/a><\/strong> on the opening drive.<\/p>\n

Florida, meanwhile, had 127 yards through two quarters\u00a0\u2013 though only 29 in the second period. DJ Lagway<\/a><\/strong> went 7-of-11 for 101 yards and a touchdown, and Jadan Baugh<\/a><\/strong> led the rushing attack with 41 yards. Eugene \u201cTre\u201d Wilson III<\/a><\/strong> was the leading receiver with five catches for 87 yards and the touchdown. He was the only Florida player to record multiple receptions in the first half.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s game marked the start of a new era for Florida, which parted ways with Billy Napier<\/a><\/strong> prior to the bye week. Billy Gonzales<\/a><\/strong> is now in as interim head coach, and he said this past week he has seen some good things from the Gators out of the week off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think their attitude, I think it\u2019s probably been the number one thing,\u201d Gonzales said on the SEC coaches teleconference<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cWe talk about having an opportunity to go out. They\u2019ve shown a lot of renewed energy. Attitude\u2019s been fantastic, and again, just we\u2019ve been kind of preaching to the team, making sure that we take ownership as a team, be a player-led team, and they\u2019ve done a fantastic job coming back, preparing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great practice, the first two days of practice have been great, and we got to have another great one today.
