The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is expected\u00a0to be released next month (you can learn more about what happens in the teaser here<\/a><\/strong>), and we now have some rumoured details on an epic set piece featuring Namor the Submariner.<\/p>\n

According to scooper James Mack<\/a>\u2014who, you may recall, shared descriptions of the movie’s costumes before they leaked online<\/strong><\/a>\u2014“previs and 3D techvis tests”<\/strong> for Avengers:\u00a0Doomsday have shown Namor in battle “amid a massive tsunami.”<\/strong> As you might expect, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever antagonist is “seemingly the one causing it.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

He goes on to say that there was also a giant octopus in the scene, along with Namor’s\u00a0Talokan army. One of the female warriors was named\u00a0Andromeda, likely based on\u00a0Andromeda Attumasen from the comics. In those, she’s the illegitimate daughter of Attuma.<\/p>\n

There was another “muscular warrior”<\/strong> depicted that\u00a0the insider believes is Orka, a comic book character typically portrayed as a villain with a\u00a0killer whale theme. This version does reportedly have “fins,”<\/strong> likely in place of a full-blown costume.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sequences like this are exactly what fans are expecting and hoping for from Avengers: Doomsday. Namor’s portrayal in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was good and served as a solid introduction, but the Russos look set to put an even more awe-inspiring\u00a0spin on the Atlantean as he gets involved with the war against Doctor Doom.<\/p>\n

“They practically told us around 12 at night. And at 5:30 in the morning, the livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop,'”<\/strong>\u00a0Huerta previously said of being announced as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adding that it was\u00a0“surprising”\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0“cool,”<\/strong>\u00a0he said the dynamic on set has been very different to\u00a0Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Huerta was the movie’s main antagonist.\u00a0“There are twenty-something characters involved in the story. Which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Huerta later described his return as Namor in\u00a0Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0as\u00a0“simpler”<\/strong>\u00a0in both\u00a0“terms of time and energy,”<\/strong>\u00a0and described Vanessa Kirby as a\u00a0“great and spectacular coworker”\u00a0<\/strong>(in the comics, Namor and Sue have a rather unique dynamic).<\/p>\n

Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0officially stars Chris Hemsworth,\u00a0Anthony Mackie,\u00a0Winston Duke,\u00a0Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and\u00a0Robert Downey Jr.\u00a0Wyatt Russell,\u00a0Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia,\u00a0Florence Pugh,\u00a0Danny Ramirez,\u00a0David Harbour,\u00a0Hannah John-Kamen,\u00a0and\u00a0Lewis Pullman all make their\u00a0Avengers\u00a0franchise debuts in the movie.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Fantastic Four: First Steps\u00a0leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and\u00a0Joseph Quinn join them, as do\u00a0X-Men\u00a0franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, with\u00a0Deadpool & Wolverine\u00a0star Channing Tatum.<\/p>\n

Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Ryan Reynolds are also set to appear, according to reports from the trades (if we listed the rumoured cast members here, we’d run out of space).<\/p>\n

The Russo Brothers direct the movie from a screenplay\u00a0by\u00a0Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the\u00a0Avengers\u00a0and\u00a0Captain America\u00a0franchises.\u00a0Loki\u00a0and\u00a0Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’s Michael Waldron is also working on the script.<\/p>\n
