\n\tThe 2025 New York City Marathon<\/a> results are in, with winners from the men\u2019s and women\u2019s races crossing the finish line before noon. Kenyan runners dominated the 54th annual event Sunday, with Benson Kipruto pulling off an unbelievable photo finish to win the men\u2019s championship and Hellen Obiri\u00a0taking home the women\u2019s win and setting a course record in the process.<\/p>\n

\n\tObiri completed the race with a time of 2:19:51, besting Margaret Okayo\u2019s previous record of 2:22:31, which was set in 2003. Obiri had previously won the 2023 NYC Marathon<\/a> \u2014 as well as the 2024 and 2023 Boston Marathons \u2014 and finished second in the 2024 New York race. Her record-sitting win was completed in the On Cloudboom Strike LS, the same experimental super shoe worn by the runner for her \u201924 Boston win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe futuristic sneaker features On\u2019s \u201cspray-on\u201d LightSpray technology to keep the upper lightweight and form-fitting and is paired with a dual-density foam midsole. While not readily available at retail currently, the Cloudboom Strike LS sneaker can be purchased from select stores for $330.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the podium, Obiri was flanked by fellow Kenyans Sharon Lokedi<\/a> and Sheila Chepkirui, who finished with times of 2:20:07 and 2:20:24, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\tKipruto\u2019s victory was equally thrilling, with the first-time NYC winner crossing the finish line in what is being called the closest men\u2019s result in marathon<\/a> history. He and Alexander Mutiso Munyao\u00a0were neck and neck approaching the tape, with Kipruto crossing just .16 seconds faster. Much like the women\u2019s results, third place also went to a Kenyan runner, Albert Korir with a time of 2:08:57. Each of the three top finishers are sponsored by Adidas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn foot, Kipruto wore an equally elusive pair: the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2<\/a> in Silver Metallic\/Lucid Red. With a retail price of $500, the brand\u2019s top-of-the-line runner has become increasingly scarce since its May debut. Munyao and Korir also opted for Adizero Adios Pro variations, with both lacing up the more accessible Adizero Adios Pro 4 for Sunday\u2019s race. <\/p>\n
