\n\tBefore landing her breakout role on Abbott Elementary<\/a>, Janelle James<\/a> had her sights set on another show.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Golden Globe nominee recently revealed she once auditioned for Netflix<\/a>\u2018s GLOW<\/a> (2017-\u201919) a role she\u2019s still \u201cso salty\u201d she didn\u2019t land, nearly five years after the streamer un-renewed the series<\/a> for a fourth and final season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI haven\u2019t thought about this in a while,\u201d she prefaced on the Let\u2019s Talk Off Camera<\/a> podcast. \u201cAnother thing I was excited about that I auditioned for once was GLOW. Do you remember that? The female wrestling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Liz Flahive<\/a> and Carly Mensch<\/a>, GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) was inspired by the 1980s syndicated women\u2019s wrestling show of the same name, starring Alison Brie<\/a>, Betty Gilpin<\/a> and a talented female-led ensemble as struggling actresses who audition for the wrestling show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI really wanted that role,\u201d she told host Kelly Ripa. \u201cIt was for one of the female wrestlers and we had to make up an \u201980s rap and perform it in the audition, and also do a fight scene with ourselves. I did this rap and then I did a round kick. And I remember leaving that audition like, \u2018Nailed it.\u2019 And did not get that role.<\/p>\n

\n\tJames added, \u201cI have not watched one second of that show. I\u2019m so salty. Maybe I\u2019ll watch it today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comedian is likely not as salty as fans of the show, after Netflix renewed it<\/a> for a fourth and final season in 2019, filming two episodes before the streamer reversed its renewal<\/a>, explaining the pandemic made \u201cshooting this physically intimate show with its large ensemble cast especially challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Before landing her breakout role on Abbott Elementary, Janelle James had her sights set on another show.
