A man was shot and killed by Denton police officers on Sunday morning after he refused to comply with orders and began firing his gun toward officers, Denton police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
Officers responded about 4 a.m. to the 1300 block of Oxford Lane , after receiving a call about a man shooting at unoccupied vehicles, police said.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived at the scene the man fired his weapon. Officers then established a perimeter and attempted to communicate with the man, police said.<\/p>\n
Police said the man failed to comply with officers\u2019 commands and began firing his weapon toward officers. Officers returned fire and struck the man.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died., police said.<\/p>\n
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will release his identity, pending family notification.<\/p>\n
No officers nor other residents were injured during this incident, police said.<\/p>\n
The officers have been placed on administrative leave while internal affairs conducts an investigation, per policy, police said in the release.<\/p>\n
The Texas Rangers are also investigating the shooting, according to the release.<\/p>\n
