The 30-year-old, who is in custody, is facing 17 charges including murder, sexual intercourse without consent, and committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.<\/p>\n
No pleas have been entered.<\/p>\n
In the Forbes Local Court, defence lawyer Diane Elston said she had not been able to interview her client in the days leading up to the hearing due to last week’s strike by NSW correctional officers.<\/p>\n
She asked Magistrate Michael Maher to grant another adjournment on a date that would allow some leeway to see her client.<\/p>\n
“In my experience, the jail can be subject to lockdowns, just as they were cancelled last week, and sometimes that can be due to staffing issues,” Ms Elston told the court.<\/p>\n
“I wouldn’t want us to be in a situation in which we are in the same position again.”<\/p>\n
Magistrate Maher granted the adjournment, with the case to return to the Forbes Local Court on November 14.<\/p>\n
Family frustrated<\/p>\n
Ms Ticehurst’s parents and family friends were in court for the hearing.<\/p>\n
Outside the court, her father, Tony Ticehurst, told the media he was disappointed by “yet another delay in Molly’s case”.<\/p>\n

“It seems to me that in life, the system let Molly down, and in death continues the same route,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Instead of getting closure, all we get is anxiety, sadness and heartache.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been in touch with the local member Phil Donato and he has offered to raise my concerns about the delays and numerous adjournments with the [NSW] attorney-general.”<\/p>\n
