ELON \u2013 <\/strong>The Elon University women’s tennis team closed out its final fall home tournament\u00a0in impressive\u00a0fashion\u00a0Sunday, winning six of seven doubles matches and four singles contests on the final day of the Phoenix Fall Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.<\/p>\n The Phoenix went six for seven in doubles play, with the pairings of Simone Bergeron<\/a>\/Mariana Reding<\/a>, Cornelia Kack<\/a>\/Lisa Kranec<\/a>\u00a0and Madison Cordisco<\/a>\/Helen Sarikulaya<\/a> each going 2-0. Bergeron and Reding earned wins over James Madison’s Sophie Williams\/Mia Saveljic (6-4) and Furman’s Bianca Ceroni\/Macy Hitchcock (7-5) to win the doubles competition with 12 points. The duo also won the Jimmy Powell Invitational earlier this fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n Kack and Kranec matched Bergeron and Reding’s success with victories against James Madison’s Daria Munteanu\/Corinna Rietmann (6-3) and Furman’s Molly Robinson\/Lily Doherty (6-2). The senior duo of Cordisco and Sarikulaya rounded out the doubles sweep for the Phoenix, defeating James Madison’s\u00a0Reka Matko\/Anna Kantor (6-2) and Charlotte’s Paula Dougherty\/Andrea Chacon (6-3).<\/p>\n Elon also posted a strong showing in singles, picking up four more wins. Bergeron rallied to beat Charlotte’s Yelyzaveta Chainykova 6-1, 2-6, 10-4, while Kranec dominated Dougherty of Charlotte 6-2, 6-1. Cordisco continued her consistent play with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-1 victory over Appalachian State’s Ruby Broadbent, and Sarikulaya earned a straight-set win against App State’s Riley Collins, 6-1, 6-3.<\/p>\n Kranec (6-0), Sarikulaya (6-0) and Cordisco (5-0) all finished the weekend unbeaten across singles and doubles.
