JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 It was a violent weekend across Jacksonville, with police responding to seven different shootings between Friday night and late Sunday.<\/p>\n
The latest one happened outside a Sunoco gas station on Kings Road on Sunday night<\/b><\/a>. Police say a man showed up at a local hospital after he was shot in the torso and stabbed in the face. <\/p>\n >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Investigators say he had parked at the gas station with his wife, got out of the car to talk with a man and a woman behind the gas station, and that\u2019s when the victim and the two people got into a dispute. The man shot the victim, and the woman stabbed the victim before they both ran off.<\/p>\n People nearby say they\u2019re shaken by the violence.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a friend that stays right there. That is terrible,\u201d Danyele Owens said. \u201cThat sounds like something out of a horror movie. Jesus Christ, please Lord, pray for Jacksonville.\u201d<\/p>\n Owens said she\u2019s tired of hearing about shootings and wants to see the city come together through prayer and opportunity.<\/p>\n RELATED: <\/b>\u2018I\u2019m tired of it:\u2019 Neighbors voice crime concerns after teenager shot by Jacksonville police<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cMan, Jacksonville need to pray more. It\u2019s a church on every corner,\u201d she said. \u201cNobody should be getting stabbed in the face \u2014 that sounds like some Halloween stuff. I\u2019m not laughing, but that\u2019s insane.\u201d<\/p>\n She tells Action News Jax she thinks the city needs tighter alcohol restrictions and more ways for people to make money.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter a certain time, don\u2019t serve no alcohol,\u201d she said. \u201cFind something to do. There\u2019s a lot of places where you can volunteer, but people need money. I don\u2019t care if it ain\u2019t nothing but $20. But they need money.\u201d<\/p>\n Police say the violence started Friday night when a man was shot on Jasper Avenue<\/b><\/a>. Early Saturday morning, another man was shot on Thorn Glen Road<\/b><\/a>. Later that evening, 38-year-old Kenance Bronson<\/b><\/a> was shot multiple times on Brentwood Avenue and died.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n His sister, Kenneshia Bronson, described him as someone who gave his love freely. <\/p>\n \u201cMy brother was lovable, caring, giving, and he was a dad not to only just his kids, but to other kids, even mine,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n That same night, a teen was shot by police in Durkeeville<\/b><\/a> after officers said a stolen car chase ended in a crash. JSO says when the teen didn\u2019t stop reaching into his pants, an officer opened fire. The teen is in critical condition, and police are still searching for several others who ran from the scene.<\/p>\n [SIGN UP: <\/b>Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/b><\/a>] <\/b><\/p>\n Two more people were shot in separate incidents Sunday. Both are expected to survive.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always a shooting around here, like, every day,\u201d one neighbor said. \u201cIt was just a shooting last week. There\u2019s always something going on \u2014 gang related or something.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, police are still investigating each of the seven shootings and searching for multiple suspects.
