They\u2019re headed to the Big Apple \u2014 where they\u2019re set to smack drums, blare trombones and strut down streets. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Blue Raider Band, from <a href=\"https:\/\/ldbell.hebisd.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">L.D. Bell High School<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hebisd.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District<\/a>, will perform during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/national\/2024\/11\/28\/macys-thanksgiving-day-parade-arrests-of-protesters-wet-weather-mar-holiday-event\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade<\/a>, which draws millions of viewers. The band is made up of about 300 teen musicians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re making some memories that are going to last a lifetime. We just can\u2019t wait to put our best foot forward in New York and represent our community,\u201d said Suzanne Dell, director of bands at L.D. Dell\u2019s lips are sealed, she said with a laugh. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Blue Raider Band will play alongside 10 other marching bands, hailing from around the country and Panama. L.D. Bell High School is the only marching band to represent the Lone Star State this year. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/2024\/11\/25\/macys-thanksgiving-day-parade-will-feature-flower-mound-hs-marching-band-a-school-first\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flower Mound high school<\/a> marching band performed in the parade last year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Blue Raider Band, started in 1957, \u201cprovides students a sense of community and a place to belong here,\u201d according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ldbellband.org\/blank-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>. The band is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ldbellband.org\/roadtomacys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">raising money<\/a> for its trip to New York City. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The band has won the Texas UIL State Marching Contest numerous times, and<b> <\/b>was named the 2007 Bands of America Grand National Champion. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cThe band has had a phenomenal reputation for many, many, many years. We\u2019ve just been trying to continue that tradition of excellence,\u201d Dell said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade is something entirely new, Dell said. \u201cIt\u2019s a cool thing to get to add to the legacy of the program,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The 2025 Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature big-name musicians such as rapper Busta Rhymes  and singer Calum Scott. Also, 34 balloons \u2014 ranging from Buzz Lightyear to Dora \u2014 and a stream of 29 colorful floats will make their way down the 2.5-mile route. The parade will end at Macy\u2019s Herald Square flagship store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The retail supergiant\u2019s parade started in 1924 and has garnered a passionate viewership. More than 3.5 million people in New York City will watch the parade, while more than 50 million people will stream the event, according to Macy\u2019s.
