OPINION \u2013 As a long-time Scottsdale resident, SUSD parent and local entrepreneur, I\u2019ve been deeply involved \u2014 serving on the SUSD Self-Insurance Trust Board, the 2035 General Plan Citizen Review Committee and as VP and treasurer of the Scottsdale Industrial Development Authority. These roles have shown me the challenges Scottsdale faces, and I\u2019m confident Ethan Knowlden is the right choice for City Council.<\/p>\n

Ethan brings 20-plus years of executive experience \u2014 managing complex budgets, leading multimillion-dollar projects and serving on nonprofit and business boards with integrity. As president of the DC Ranch Community Council, he delivered a $10 million community center on time and on budget, proving he can lead without waste. He also serves on the Arizona Housing Coalition Board, offering valuable insight into one of our city\u2019s most pressing issues.<\/p>\n

At a time when Scottsdale needs steady leadership, Ethan is the thoughtful, balanced voice we need \u2014 someone who listens to residents, understands concerns about overdevelopment and can responsibly balance growth, economic vitality and quality of life.<\/p>\n

Too often, City Council is sidetracked by infighting and costly legal battles \u2014 even targeting businesses born here in Scottsdale. We need leaders who put the community above personal agendas. Ethan is committed to restoring fiscal responsibility, avoiding wasteful litigation and making smart, disciplined decisions that truly serve residents.<\/p>\n

Ethan knows growth must be managed, not ignored or exploited. He respects the voter-approved General Plan, values protecting our Preserve and understands the need to support first responders and prepare Scottsdale for long-term challenges like water and climate.<\/p>\n
