{"id":354370,"date":"2025-11-04T06:24:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T06:24:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/354370\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T06:24:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T06:24:13","slug":"no-3-ucla-womens-basketball-beats-feisty-san-diego-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/354370\/","title":{"rendered":"No. 3 UCLA women&#8217;s basketball beats feisty San Diego State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The No. 3 <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/ucla\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UCLA<\/a> women\u2019s basketball team won its first game of the season, defeating feisty San Diego State  77\u201353 on Monday at the Honda Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins (1\u20130) built an eight-point lead in the first quarter, but the unranked Aztecs (0\u20131) managed to cut the deficit by three by the end of the period.<\/p>\n<p>San Diego State struggled to score in the second quarter when UCLA went on a 12\u20132 run.<\/p>\n<p>The scoring gap continued to increase as the Bruins extended their lead to 15 points, ending the first half with a 37\u201322 advantage.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA center Lauren Betts scored 21 points and grabbed four rebounds, guard Gabriela Jaquez recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Charlisse Ledger-Walker, who returned to the court after redshirting last season, contributed 12 points and five assists.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins opened the third quarter with a 16\u20130 run.
