Syracuse, N.Y. — It would be hard to ask for better weather for Election Day<\/a> in Central New York.<\/p>\n

After a slight chance of light rain this morning, skies should become mostly sunny by lunchtime and stay clear the rest of the day, according to<\/a> National Weather Service forecasts.<\/p>\n

There could be some lingering lake effect rain showers through about 9 a.m., but they won\u2019t drop more than a few-hundredths of an inch of rain.<\/p>\n

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. <\/p>\n

A low-pressure system slides in overnight, bringing light rain through the day on Thursday.<\/p>\n

In Onondaga County<\/a>, 17,218 people have already cast their ballots in early voting, according to the Board of Elections.<\/p>\n

The total is a 41% increase over the previous record for a local election year, set in 2023, said Dustin Czarny, the county\u2019s Democratic elections commissioner.<\/p>\n

The big turnout in Onondaga County was fueled in part by the four-person race for mayor in Syracuse<\/a>, where 3,592 people voted early.<\/p>\n

The nine-day early voting period in New York state ended Sunday. <\/p>\n
