On his first show since President Donald Trump called him a \u201ctruly deranged lunatic\u201d<\/a> on social media, late-night host Seth Meyers said he would normally disregard an unhinged verbal attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try to live by the New Yorker\u2019s creed: When someone is ranting and raving about you, ignore them,\u201d Meyers said on Monday\u2019s \u201cLate Night.\u201d \u201cChances are they\u2019re just going to move on and rant about something else.\u201d <\/p>\n

But, of course, he couldn\u2019t resist. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can say I\u2019m untalented. You can say I\u2019m deranged. But I\u2019m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!\u201d said Meyers, who mocked Trump last week for talking about catapults more than Wile E. Coyote<\/a>. \u201cYou\u2019re the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He then played a series of clips from Trump speeches in which the president repeatedly \u2013 more than 30 times, in all \u2013 talked about catapults. <\/p>\n

Meyers also joked about Trump\u2019s renovation of the bathroom in the Lincoln Bedroom, which the president has posted about six times (so far) on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if you\u2019re worried you won\u2019t be able to afford your next meal, good news: Donald Trump renovated a bathroom in the White House,\u201d said Meyers, a reference to the Trump administration\u2019s plan to make only partial payments for the food stamp program known as SNAP<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would love to know how Trump came to the conclusion that the changes were appropriate for the time of Lincoln,\u201d Meyers added. \u201cDoes he think Abraham Lincoln was a high roller who loved gold trash cans?\u201d <\/p>\n

Lastly, the late-night host and New Hampshire native<\/a> wondered if maybe Lincoln has been misunderstood this whole time. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery story I\u2019ve heard about Lincoln is like, \u2018He did his homework with a lump of coal on the back of a shovel in the pouring rain,\u2019 or \u2018Did you know he put himself through law school by eating mud for eight cents a day\u2019? But to hear Trump talk, Lincoln was, what, best friends with Hugh Hefner?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
