As California voters went to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballot on a measure that could block President Trump\u2019s national agenda, state officials ridiculed his unsubstantiated claims that voting in the largely Democratic state is \u201crigged.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED,\u201d Trump said on TruthSocial just minutes after polling stations opened Tuesday across California.<\/p>\n
The president provided no evidence for his allegations.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll \u2018Mail-In\u2019 Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are \u2018Shut Out,\u2019 is under very serious legal and criminal review,\u201d the GOP president wrote. \u201cSTAY TUNED!\u201d<\/p>\n
Gov. Gavin Newsom dismissed<\/a> the president\u2019s claims on X as \u201cthe ramblings of an old man that knows he\u2019s about to LOSE.\u201d <\/p>\n His press office chimed in, too, calling Trump \u201ca totally unserious person spreading false information in a desperate attempt to cope with his failures.\u201d<\/p>\n National tension is high as voters across California cast ballots on Proposition 50, a Democratic plan championed by Newsom to redraw the state\u2019s congressional districts ahead of the 2026 election to favor the Democratic Party. The measure is intended to offset GOP gerrymandering in red states after Trump pressed Texas to rejigger maps to shore up the GOP\u2019s narrow House majority. <\/p>\n California\u2019s top elections official, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, called Trump\u2019s allegation \u201canother baseless claim.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe bottom line is California elections have been validated by the courts,\u201d Weber said in a statement. \u201cCalifornia voters will not be deceived by someone who consistently makes desperate, unsubstantiated attempts to dissuade Americans from participating in our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n Weber noted that more than 7 million Californians have already voted and encouraged those who had yet to cast ballots to go to the polls. <\/p>\n \u201cCalifornia voters will not be sidelined from exercising their constitutional right to vote and should not let anyone deter them from exercising that right,\u201d Weber said.<\/p>\n
