{"id":355757,"date":"2025-11-04T20:06:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/355757\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T20:06:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T20:06:16","slug":"state-pensioners-could-claim-70-off-supermarket-shop-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/355757\/","title":{"rendered":"State pensioners could claim \u00a370 off supermarket shop this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of state pensioners are getting a helping hand with their shopping this week as \u00a370 supermarket vouchers land in eligible households.<\/p>\n<p> The vouchers are being distributed from today through to Thursday, giving vulnerable pensioners extra support with their food shopping as winter sets in.<\/p>\n<p>The support is aimed at those on certain benefits who are feeling the pinch, with those eligible set to receive the payment automatically.<\/p>\n<p> The money can be spent in supermarkets to help cover the cost of essentials during what can be a challenging time of year.<\/p>\n<p>Funding runs until March 31, 2026 with local councils deciding how to distribute it, meaning eligibility rules may vary by area.<\/p>\n<p>Wakefield Council in West Yorkshire has confirmed it will distribute \u00a370 supermarket vouchers to pensioners receiving Council Tax Support.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of vouchers will be issued between 4 and 6 November to those who no longer receive the Winter Fuel Allowance (i.e. not on Pension Credit). <\/p>\n<p>A second round will follow from 11 to 13 November for pensioners who still receive the allowance (i.e. those on Pension Credit).<\/p>\n<p>The support comes through the Government&#8217;s Household Support Fund, which targets vulnerable households during the colder months.<\/p>\n<p> Pensioners who receive certain benefits are among those who can access this help with essential living costs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"33c5c\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"70a5115a11116a3ad8c57e062f22a8d3\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201600%20900'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/woman-on-laptop-and-supermarket-shop.jpg\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" alt=\"Woman on laptop and supermarket shop\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The support targets benefit recipients who are struggling with rising costs<\/p>\n<p> | <\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>Wakefield Council said: \u201cEligible households do not need to apply for these vouchers. They will be issued automatically. Please allow up to 14 days for the voucher to arrive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFull instructions on how to redeem the voucher will be included in the letter. Once the voucher has been redeemed, it doesn\u2019t have to be spent all at once.
