\n\tCritics and TV journalists are eviscerating Ryan Murphy<\/a>\u2019s \u201cAll\u2019s Fair,\u201d starring Kim Kardashian<\/a>, calling the new legal drama \u201cexistentially terrible,\u201d \u201ctacky\u201d and a \u201cdisaster zone.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series, whose first three episodes are now available on Hulu and Disney+, follows a team of female divorce attorneys who open their own practice in L.A. \u201cFierce, brilliant, and emotionally complicated, they navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets, and shifting allegiances \u2014 both in the courtroom and within their own ranks. In a world where money talks and love is a battleground, these women don\u2019t just play the game\u2014they change it,\u201d a synopsis reads. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Kardashian, the 10-episode series stars Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn The Times\u2019 zero-star review<\/a> of the series, headlined \u201cAll\u2019s Fair review: this may be the worst TV drama ever,\u201d deputy TV editor Ben Dowell wrote: \u201cWell done, Kim. You must have quite a healthy ego yourself to star in what may well be the worst television drama ever made. Because\u00a0\u2018All\u2019s Fair\u2019\u00a0(Disney+) is so bad, it\u2019s not even enjoyably so. It thinks it\u2019s a feminist fable about spirited lawyers getting their own back on cruel rich men but is in fact a tacky and revolting monument to the same greed, vanity and avarice it supposedly targets. All scripted, it feels, by a toddler who couldn\u2019t write \u2018bum\u2019 on a wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGuardian TV critic Lucy Mangan also gave the series a zero-star rating, writing in her review<\/a>, \u201cI did not know it was still possible to make television this bad. I assumed that there was some sort of baseline, some inescapable bedrock knowledge of how to do it that now prevents any entry into the art form from falling below a certain standard. But I was wrong. The new series from Ryan Murphy, \u2018All\u2019s Fair\u2019 \u2013 starring\u00a0Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash as the founders of an all-female law firm delivering divorce-y justice to incredibly rich but slightly unlucky women under the azure skies of California \u2013 is terrible. Fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tMost reviews panned the performances \u2014 particularly Kardashian\u2019s as divorce attorney Allura Grant \u2014 with The Telegraph\u2019s Ed Power writing<\/a>, \u201cAmid this disaster zone of soapy plotting and reeking dialogue, it is perhaps unfair to single out Kardashian. Her participation is just one disaster among many (she is an executive producer alongside her mother and manager,\u00a0Kris Jenner). Yet there is no glossing over her stilted acting, already confirmed by her guest appearance in season 12 of Murphy\u2019s\u00a0\u2018American Horror Story.\u2019 Even more striking than her lack of thespian chops, however, is her complete absence of screen presence. She has no aura, no unfiltered charisma. Forget an X factor, Kardashian has a Zzzzzz\u2026 quality that threatens to lull the unprepared viewer into a stupor whenever she opens her mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDowell, meanwhile, said of Kardashian: \u201cDoes Kardashian (who plans to take bar exams, we are told) make a convincing lawyer? No, she does not. She is to acting what Genghis Khan is to a peaceful liberal democracy, though of course the dialogue \u2014 a tsunami of clunking clich\u00e9 that drowns this whole enterprise in the first five minutes \u2014 doesn\u2019t help her cause.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAll\u2019s Fair\u201d marks Kardashian\u2019s second collaboration with Murphy after starring in the 12th season of \u201cAmerican Horror Story,\u201d subtitled \u201cDelicate.\u201d The reality TV star also serves as an executive producer on the legal drama alongside Murphy. <\/p>\n

\n\tGlamour editor Emily Maddick compared \u201cAll\u2019s Fair\u201d to watching an episode of \u201cThe Kardashians,\u201d writing in her review<\/a>, \u201cAnd after sitting through the first episode of\u00a0\u2018All\u2019s Fair,\u2019 if \u2018aspirational\u2019 is what they\u2019re aiming for, then god help us all. For it seems that Ryan Murphy, arguably one of the hottest names in TV, with countless brilliant and diverse, award-winning shows under his belt, including\u00a0\u2018Glee,\u2019 \u2018American Horror Story,\u2019 \u2018Pose,\u2019 \u2018Scream Queens\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0\u2018Nip Tuck,\u2019 has been fully Kardashian-ified. He\u2019s drunk the\u00a0Kris Jenner\u00a0Kool Aid and the Murphy cinematic universe has been infected by this so-called \u2018aspirational\u2019 lifestyle the Kardashians dictate we should all be conforming to aspire to; which, in other words, translates as \u2018behaving like a billionaire.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
