Ashley Lee, who is over the department\u2019s domestic violence unit, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cOn average, the unit works approximately 14,000 domestic violence cases yearly,\u201d Lee said. \u201cThis year we\u2019ve worked 11,167 cases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Police did not disclose specific details about the arrests and suspects in an effort to keep the victims\u2019 information private, Lee said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Police urge victims of domestic violence to speak up and ask for help.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe want you to come forward and collect these services,\u201d Lee said. \u201cIt\u2019s our primary goal to protect you and your families.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Dallas-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.genesisshelter.org\/get-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.genesisshelter.org\/get-help\">Genesis Women\u2019s Shelter and Support<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/familyplace.org\/get-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/familyplace.org\/get-help\/\">The Family Place<\/a> partnered with police to provide victims with support and resources. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Genesis hotline is answered by call and text 24\/7 for confidential, free help at 214-946-4357.
