Most call crime a problem, but fewer than half call it a &#8220;major&#8221; one.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of this campaign has been defined by &#8220;change vs. experience&#8221; and that is reflected in what voters want in their next mayor. Most New York City voters overall say the candidates&#8217; positions on Israel were a factor in their vote, although it is a major factor for fewer than half. It is more of a factor for Jewish voters.<\/p>\n<p>            <a name=\"post-update-0832b051\" class=\"post-update__anchor-link\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>              44m ago<\/p>\n<p>                          What&#8217;s on the ballot in NYC for the 2025 election<\/p>\n<p>New York City voters are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-mayor-election-2025-whos-on-the-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">casting their ballots in several key offices<\/a>, most notably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-mayoral-candidates-running-2025-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the race for mayor<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams is no longer seeking reelection after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/eric-adams-expected-to-drop-out-nyc-mayor-race-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">leaving the race in late September<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, it&#8217;s down to Democrat Zohran Mamdani, independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New Yorkers are also voting for public advocate, comptroller, borough presidents, City Council seats and judges, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-election-2025-ballot-proposals\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">six ballot proposals<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/findmypollsite.vote.nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/strong> to find a sample ballot for your district.<\/p>\n<p>            <a name=\"post-update-b09f2d37\" class=\"post-update__anchor-link\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>              Updated 32m ago<\/p>\n<p>                          What time do polls close in NYC?<\/p>\n<p>Polls are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/when-polls-open-close-nyc-2025-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.<\/a> on Election Day in New York City.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Voters in line before 9 p.m. should be allowed to cast their ballots.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vote.nyc\/page\/find-your-poll-site\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/strong> to find your designated polling location.<\/p>\n<p>            <a name=\"post-update-6fedc674\" class=\"post-update__anchor-link\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>              Updated 42m ago<\/p>\n<p>                          Record early voting turnout in NYC&#8217;s mayoral election<\/p>\n<p>Early voting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-early-voting-2025-turnout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">set records for a non-presidential election<\/a> in the city, according to the New York City Board of Elections.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than 164,000 voters hit the polls during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/new-york-city-mayors-race-andrew-cuomo-curtis-sliwa-zohran-mamdani\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the first weekend<\/a> of early voting in the city alone, vastly outpacing the 31,176 votes cast during the same period in the 2021 mayoral election. That trend line continued throughout the early voting period.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The BOE reported a total of 735,317 early voting check-ins over nine days, compared to 169,879 in the 2021 race.<\/p>\n<p>Initial data showed voters over the age of 50 appeared to be outnumbering younger voters, who had dominated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/zohran-mamdani-wins-democratic-nomination-nyc-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the Democratic primary<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>            <a name=\"post-update-c9dbf42b\" class=\"post-update__anchor-link\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>              Updated 42m ago<\/p>\n<p>                          Latest polling the race for NYC mayor<\/p>\n<p>Since winning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/zohran-mamdani-wins-democratic-nomination-nyc-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">a stunning Democratic primary victory<\/a>, Mamdani has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/zohran-mamdani-aarp-gotham-poll-nyc-mayors-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">consistently polled ahead of the pack<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, the latest poll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-mayors-race-latest-poll-early-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">released over the weekend<\/a> showed his lead may be narrowing, down to just single digits over Cuomo. The Atlas poll, which survey over 1,500 people through Oct. 30, had Mamdani with 40% of the vote, Cuomo with 34% and Sliwa with 24%.<\/p>\n<p>Three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-mayor-race-new-poll-mamdani-cuomo-sliwa\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">separate polls released late last week<\/a> showed Mamdani with at least a 10-point lead over Cuomo, including an Emerson College poll that had Mamdani at 50%, Cuomo at 25% and Sliwa at 21%.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/andrew-cuomo-zohran-mamdani-nyc-mayoral-election-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">poll released last Monday from Suffolk University Boston<\/a>\u00a0also found Cuomo was closing the gap. The poll showed 44% of those surveyed in favor of Mamdani, followed by 34% for Cuomo and 11% for Sliwa. A similar poll from Suffolk University Boston in September had Mamdani with double that lead, ahead of Cuomo by 20 points.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/zohran-mamdani-aarp-gotham-poll-nyc-mayors-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">poll released last month<\/a> showed a neck-and-neck race between Mamdani and Cuomo if Sliwa were to drop out &#8211; something <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/curtis-sliwa-wabc-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the Republican has repeatedly dismissed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/cbs-news-new-york-mayor-race-poll-mamdani-cost-of-living-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News poll in September<\/a>, before Mayor Adams left the race, found affordability was top of mind for New York City voters in this election.
