\n\tRedRover<\/a> has tapped prolific Korean filmmaker Lee Seok-hoon to write and direct \u201cRainmakers<\/a>,\u201d marking the animation studio\u2019s first foray into K-pop<\/a>-driven storytelling.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Korea-based company is presenting the project at AFM<\/a> along with \u201cThe Nut Job 3\u201d and \u201cMegaRacer,\u201d a sci-fi racing pic currently in post-production. The \u201cNut Job\u201d franchise has earned more than $200 million globally across two installments.<\/p>\n

\n\tLee\u2019s \u201cRainmakers\u201d centers on unlikely allies \u2014 an orphan and a princess \u2014 who join forces with outcasts to take down a corporate threat to their world. Music plays a central role in the story, with K-pop\u2019s aesthetic and energy woven throughout the film\u2019s narrative and visual design. Planet Nero serves as the backdrop for the action-adventure, which will include original songs from an unnamed K-pop producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tLee ranks among South Korea\u2019s top-earning directors, with credits spanning multiple genres. His action sequel \u201cConfidential Assignment 2: International\u201d was Korea\u2019s third-biggest film of 2022, while \u201cThe Himalayas\u201d led the local box office for three weeks. He\u2019s also helmed period adventure \u201cThe Pirates\u201d and romantic comedy \u201cDancing Queen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe third \u201cNut Job\u201d film will feature franchise regulars alongside new characters, following Surly\u2019s daughter Hazel on a journey that tests the father-daughter bond while old nemesis Raccoon seeks payback.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMegaRacer\u201d takes place during a rare celestial event that occurs once every eight years, when competing racers travel through time and space chasing glory and mysterious powers.<\/p>\n

\n\tRedRover launched in 2004 as a 3D stereoscopic tech company before transitioning to animation production.
