Most of Vancouver Island\u2019s coast has been issued a coastal flooding statement for Wednesday into Thursday.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada<\/a> says there will be elevated ocean levels accompanied by significant winds and waves, \u201cpossibly exceeding highest astronomical tide.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement is in effect starting on Wednesday at noon into Thursday afternoon for coastlines along west and north Vancouver Island, Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands and near Campbell River.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada says the peak winds will coincide with high tide.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinor coastal flooding is likely along exposed shorelines, especially in the low-lying areas,\u201d the notice by Environment Canada says.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to flooding and\/or debris, such as driftwood and rocks.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCoastal erosion is possible in sensitive areas, such as tidal flats, estuaries, dunes, beaches and barrier islands.\u201d<\/p>\n
