Check out our article below on how to see the Buck Moon in Houston!<\/p>\n<p> What is the Buck Moon? <\/p>\n<p>The Buck Moon is the name of a full moon that is derived from the time when male deers, or <strong>bucks, grow their antlers to full size<\/strong> before shedding. Its name traces back to Native American tradition. Alternative names for the July full moon include the <strong>Salmon Moon,<\/strong> Feather Moutlting Moon, and Berry Moon.<\/p>\n<p> Is the Buck Moon a Supermoon? <\/p>\n<p>A supermoon occurs when a <strong>full moon coincides with it reaching its nearest point to Earth<\/strong> in its elliptical orbit, or perigee. While the Buck Moon has been a supermoon in the past, the 2025 <strong>Buck Moon is not classified as a supermoon<\/strong>. That being said, it will still provide a stellar sight to see.<\/p>\n<p>A trio of supermoons are expected to grace our skies later this year, beginning <strong>October 7<\/strong> with the <strong>Harvest Moon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> When to see the Buck Moon in Houston? <\/p>\n<p>The Buck Moon is set to reach peak illumination at <strong>3:37 pm CDT on Thursday, July 10<\/strong>. While this does occur during daylight hours, the moon will nevertheless provide an incredible site after sunset<\/p>\n<p> How to see the Buck Moon in Houston? <\/p>\n<p>Due to presently forecasted<strong> clear skies<\/strong> this coming week, it<strong> won\u2019t be very difficult to see the Buck Moon in Houston<\/strong> this year around. That said, it\u2019s always better to see celestial phenomenon when outside the city lights. It would also help to find a wide-open area like a park.
