Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed in Jacksonville. Here are some things to know about the band’s history.<\/p>\n

Remember all those summer weekends spent sweating and searching for something fun to do? The payoff comes this weekend, when the weather is tolerable and it’s not a question of what to do, but which fun thing to choose from. The fair is up and running for its final downtown appearance, musicians are playing for free on the historic porches of Springfield, the symphony welcomes an international guest and professional surfers hit the waves in Jax Beach.<\/p>\n

Oh, and did we mention that Lynyrd Skynyrd<\/a> its first hometown show since 2018?<\/p>\n

Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair \u00a0<\/p>\n

Through Nov. 16 at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. $15.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the last hurrah for the fair at its current downtown location before moving to new digs near the Equestrian Center. Count on rides, live music, livestock contests, bake-offs and fried food on a stick. The fair is open from 5-11 p.m. Friday, noon-11 p.m. Sunday and noon-10 p.m. Sunday. PorchFest \u00a0<\/p>\n

Skynyrd played what was billed as its final Jacksonville show in 2018 \u2014 they even made a live album and DVD of it \u2014 but things change. The band will return to its hometown for a show at Daily\u2019s Place, but it\u2019s a fundraiser for St. Michael\u2019s Soldiers, which supports military families.
