Henderson/ Getty Images The Golden State Warriors earned a much-needed 118-107 win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night, but the celebration didn’t last long. Moments after spearheading the victory with a 28-point performance, Stephen Curry revealed he was battling a severe case of the flu. Curry’s health scare casts doubt over his availability for the Warriors’ upcoming clash against the Sacramento Kings.Curry, who drained five triples and helped Golden State fend off a late Suns comeback, admitted that the illness had taken a toll on his performance. What initially looked like another routine night for the Warriors’ veteran guard quickly turned into concern as he struggled through the second half, visibly drained despite his stellar stat line.

Stephen Curry’s postgame revelation alarms the Golden State Warriors roster

Stephen Curry has been the standout star for the Golden State Warriors for years. Although Curry has not sustained any significant game injury, he has been down with severe flu, as per reports surfaced after the Warriors’ victory over the Suns. “Steph Curry has a cold that he said is getting worse postgame,” ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported via X. “He casted some serious doubt that he will play in Sacramento tomorrow night.” The 37-year-old later admitted that his energy levels were completely depleted, saying, “Tonight in the second half, the tank was on [empty].”Despite Curry’s competitive drive to suit up against the Kings, head coach Steve Kerr took no chances with his superstar. “I don’t care what the doctors say,” Kerr said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “We got to get him some rest. He’s not playing tomorrow.” Kerr’s firm stance reflected both caution and respect for Curry’s longevity, especially given the back-to-back schedule. The night also brought another concern for Golden State, as Jimmy Butler exited after just 14 minutes with lower back soreness. Butler had been listed as questionable before the game, but tried to push through the pain before being pulled in the second quarter. Kerr confirmed afterward that Butler’s status for Wednesday remains uncertain.

Opportunity knocks for the Golden State Warriors’ young core

With both Curry and Butler sidelined, the Warriors’ young guns are expected to carry the load against Sacramento. Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, and rookie Brandin Podziemski all delivered impressive minutes against Phoenix— showing flashes of promise and poise under pressure.Moody, who tallied 24 points and five rebounds off the bench, seems eager to capitalize on his expanding role. “I guess that’s why I got the nickname ‘Stay Ready Mo,’” he said. “No matter what the situation is, you’ve got to deal with it, and I think that’s where we’re at, so day by day.”Kerr echoed that sentiment, praising Moody’s impact on both ends of the floor. “Moses was the player of the game tonight,” the coach said. “His defense on [Devin] Booker and his shooting — he was fantastic.”As Curry rests and the Warriors regroup, Wednesday’s game against the Kings could serve as a proving ground for the next generation.
