NBC<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has their reasons for what leads to a separation or divorce,\u201d she said on Wednesday\u2019s episode of \u201cToday with Jenna &amp; Friends.\u201d NBC<\/p>\n<p>Dreyer, 44, explained that it was \u201cfreeing\u201d that she and Fichera could decide whether they wanted to continue trying to fix their marriage or \u201caccept that [it was] broken\u201d and \u201ctake [a] new step forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll those things that are broken, I don\u2019t hold them against you because we accepted they\u2019re broken,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re separated,\u201d the TV host elaborated, sharing that she and Fichera have agreed to make amends over the undisclosed brokenness of their union and move forward as friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was something we couldn\u2019t fix, so now we have reframed our relationship [so] that we are no longer husband and wife,\u201d the TV personality added. Dylan Dreyer\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>Dreyer explained that she and Fichera were able to decide whether they wanted to fix their marriage or move forward. Brian Fichera\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like a friend, you give them a little more grace when you\u2019re not married to it,\u201d Dreyer said. \u201cAnd I can be a better friend than a wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the meteorologist added that she and Fichera have also talked to their <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/03\/18\/parents\/dylan-dreyer-explains-why-she-is-fine-showering-with-sons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three sons<\/a> \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2023\/05\/24\/dylan-dreyers-son-calvin-diagnosed-with-celiac-disease\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calvin<\/a>, Oliver, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/09\/29\/dylan-dreyer-gives-birth-to-third-baby-with-husband-brian-fichera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rusty<\/a> \u2014 about their separation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked Calvin. I said, \u2018What do you think a family is?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd he said, \u2018Well, it\u2019s a group of people that love each other.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re separated,\u201d the meteorologist shared. And we will always be that for you. But Mommy and Daddy work better as friends than as husband and wife,&#8217;\u201d Dreyer explained. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd [Calvin] doesn\u2019t care about a title. He doesn\u2019t care what we are officially, none of them do. They are surrounded by love every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dreyer shared that her and Fichera\u2019s co-parenting relationship involves the latter taking their kids to school and joining them for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>The exes will also celebrate Thanksgiving together later this month.<\/p>\n<p>The exes announced their split in July. Dylan Dreyer\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>They share three kids. Dylan Dreyer\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have three boys,\u201d Dreyer said. \u201cI want their dad in their lives. They need that. They need both the dynamic of a father and a mother.
