SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 A San Antonio father said he felt blindsided after one of the suspects in his son\u2019s murder case walked free. <\/p>\n

Matthew Guerra and his pregnant girlfriend, Savanah Soto, were murdered in 2023. Three people were arrested in connection with the case. One of them had their charges dismissed on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Myrta Romanos<\/a>, who was charged with tampering with a human corpse, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence, was in court on Wednesday when jury selection in her trial was expected to begin. According to Bexar County court records, all three of Romanos\u2019 charges were dismissed on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Romanos \u2014 along with Ramon Preciado<\/a> (Romanos\u2019 husband), and Christopher Preciado<\/a> (Romanos\u2019 son) \u2014 were taken into custody following the December 2023 shooting deaths of Savanah Soto<\/a> and Matthew Guerra<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Romanos, 49, was arrested in January 2024 after San Antonio police had previously identified Christopher Preciado and Ramon Preciado as the \u201csole suspects\u201d<\/a> in the case.<\/p>\n

Investigators believed Romanos allegedly helped Christopher Preciado \u2014 who has been charged with capital murder \u2014 move Soto and Guerra\u2019s bodies to a Leon Valley apartment complex, where police later found them.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Gabriel Guerra, Matthew\u2019s dad, said they found out about Romanos\u2019 charges being dismissed on social media. <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like we should have been notified from the DA\u2019s office to better prep ourselves,\u201d Gabriel said. <\/p>\n

When asked if he was happy with how the district attorney\u2019s office has handled the case, he said \u201cI mean, as far as communication-wise, absolutely not.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Guerra family said every delay feels like another setback, but they said it won\u2019t stop them fighting for justice. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re ready for some closure and for some justice to be handed down,\u201d Gabriel said. \u201cWe\u2019re just going to continue to fight for justice for them and just keep them alive.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Guerra family said the district attorney\u2019s office told them it might re-examine charges after Christopher Preciado\u2019s trial. His trial date was officially scheduled to begin on Feb. 2, 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n
