Discovery, revealed on Thursday\u2019s investor call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSteven Spielberg is returning to executive produce \u201cGremlins 3\u201d while \u201cHarry Potter\u201d filmmaker Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce, Zaslav confirmed. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will co-write the screenplay. Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario are producing for Amblin Entertainment alongside 26th\u00a0Street Pictures\u2019 Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.\u00a0All other details, including a plot description and anyone starring in the film, haven\u2019t been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe original \u201cGremlins,\u201d which famously led to the creation of the PG-13 rating, was released in 1984 and directed by Joe Dante with Columbus writing the screenplay. The horror-comedy follows a boy named Billy who receives a cute, furry creature called a Mogwai as a pet. Billy is warned to never expose the animal to bright light, water or to feed him after midnight. After those rules are broken, the gremlin spawns more of its kind and end up wrecking havoc on Billy\u2019s hometown during Christmas. \u201cGremlins\u201d was a box office hit with $212 million dollars worldwide. The sequel, 1990\u2019s \u201cGremlins 2: The New Batch,\u201d was less successful with $41 million but became a cult classic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cFew titles are as beloved and iconic as\u00a0\u2018Gremlins,\u2019 and we\u2019re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation,\u201d Warner Bros. Pictures\u2019 president of development and production\u00a0Jesse Ehrman said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next\u00a0installment of\u00a0the\u00a0magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tZaslav touted the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group\u2019s epic theatrical streak in 2025, where <a data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/warner-bros-box-office-historic-streak-conjuring-last-rites-1236510864\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/warner-bros-box-office-historic-streak-conjuring-last-rites-1236510864\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seven consecutive releases<\/a> \u2014 including \u201cA Minecraft Movie,\u201d \u201cSinners,\u201d \u201cWeapons\u201d and \u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites\u201d \u2014 opened above $40 million. No other studio has ever achieved that level of consistency at the box office. The studio\u2019s slate of triumphs helps offset a financial miss like Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s \u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d which is expected to be a major Oscar player but is <a data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/one-battle-after-another-lose-100-million-dollars-theaters-1236552914\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/one-battle-after-another-lose-100-million-dollars-theaters-1236552914\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tracking to lose $100 million in its theatrical run<\/a> against its $130 million budget.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re leading the 2025 box office domestically.
