A man is fighting for life after being mauled by several of his dogs at a home in Western Sydney.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 54-year-old was attacked in the head, chest, and arm at a property on Kildare Rd, Doonside, about 11am on Thursday.<\/p>\n

7NEWS understands that three larger dogs were attacking three smaller ones when the owner stepped in trying to break up that fight.<\/p>\n

Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

A CareFlight helicopter was initially dispatched, but he was later transported by road.<\/p>\n

Police said six dogs were seized from the property by Blacktown City Council, and investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

Blacktown City Council said it is assisting NSW Police with their investigation in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the request of the owners, three dogs, believed to be of the cross Bull Arab type, were voluntarily surrendered to Council and have been euthanised,\u201d the council said.<\/p>\n

Bull Arab dogs are a mix of a bull terrier, a greyhound and a German short-haired pointer.<\/p>\n

The incident comes less than a week after another dog attack in Sydney, in which a 55-year-old man was left fighting for life<\/a> after being mauled by his own dog.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for emergency surgery, and the dog was removed along with two other dogs from his Camperdown unit on Monday.<\/p>\n

In September, three children were attacked by two dogs<\/a> roaming the streets in Marsden Park.<\/p>\n

Earlier that month, 17-year-old Annalyse Blyton died<\/a> after being attacked by a large mixed-breed dog in Singleton.<\/p>\n
