PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — This week on FYI Philly, we have a list of hangouts as the holidays approach, from a new University City food hall featuring worldly flavors, to a historic Hatboro brewery and tea time in Doylestown.<\/p>\n
Mecha Noodle Bar<\/strong> recently opened it’s latest location in one of the hottest culinary corridors of Philly.<\/p>\n The growing brand is now in six states and was started in a college dorm by childhood friends Rich Reyes and Tony Pham.<\/p>\n Mecha means “mom and pop” in Vietnamese, and pays homage to Chef Tony’s Asian-American upbringing – his parents owned a pho shop when he was growing up.<\/p>\n The menu has a variety of ramen, pho, baos, and dumplings, plus beverages like bubble teas, sakes and more.<\/p>\n The co-founders also worked in a charity element to their business model. For every bowl of ramen, fifty cents goes to a local charity. Their decision to pay it forward has resulted in over $1 million dollars being raised over the 10 locations of Mecha.<\/p>\n Mecha Noodle Bar<\/a> | Instagram<\/a> | Facebook<\/a><\/strong> At the newly-opened Gather Food Hall<\/strong>, the mission is in the name, creating the go-to place for people to gather, with food as the connector.<\/p>\n The new food hall is located inside the old Bulletin Building, right beside 30th Street Station.<\/p>\n There is the Bulletin Bar, where you can grab a drink and order from any of the 5 food stalls. Mucho Peru is from a husband and wife team serving Peruvian comfort food.<\/p>\n El Mictlan is a contemporary Mexican taco bar, highlighting the flavors of Mexico’s West Coast. Federal Donuts & Chicken also has an outpost here.<\/p>\n There’s even a fast casual healthy Indian concept called Bowl’d Masala and Cambodian flavors from a chef who launched her Sahbayy Food at the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park and became famous for her lemongrass cheesesteak.<\/p>\n Gather Food Hall is giving back to the community as well through a program called Believe in Students by creating low cost options for all college students and free meals for students in need.<\/p>\n Gather Food Hall<\/a><\/strong> | <\/strong>Instagram<\/a><\/strong> Concordance Ferments<\/strong> brews an array of beers to pair with a seasonal dining menu.<\/p>\n Located inside a historic grist mill built in 1724, the building hosted George Washington and his troops during the Revolutionary War. And the brew pub embraces that history, with many of the historic features like the stone fireplace and original beams being prominently restored.<\/p>\n There are three floors. The first is a lounge-like taproom with a handmade wood bar and comfortable couches and chairs along with board games and cards for guests to enjoy.<\/p>\n The second floor is the dining room with nearly 50 seats and an open kitchen. The dishes rotate seasonally and feature handmade pasta, meatballs and desserts.<\/p>\n The third floor is a private dining or party room. Guests can rent the space out for special events or the brew pub hosts special events of its own, like Yoga & Beer happening November 16th.<\/p>\n Concordance Ferments<\/a> | Facebook <\/a>| Instagram<\/a><\/strong> At Flight Club<\/strong>, you can sidle up to the bar for a craft cocktail or settle into one of the 12 oches.<\/p>\n It’s your toe line to throw for a game of high-tech darts, with an innovative tracking system designed by a former NASA astrophysicist.<\/p>\n Flight Club was founded a decade ago in London, with the mission of combining dining and darts to create social connection.<\/p>\n The Philadelphia location is the 9th in North America and it’s proving popular for both parties and date night.<\/p>\n Flight Club is housed in the former Philadelphia Stock Exchange Building, on Walnut Street just west of Broad Street.<\/p>\n The vibe is Victorian fairground, right down to the hand-spun cotton candy.<\/p>\n Flight Club Philadelphia<\/a><\/strong> | Facebook<\/a><\/strong> | Instagram<\/a><\/strong> John Robert Cellars<\/strong> has opened a new wine tasting room, serving locally made wines and tapas in Delaware County.<\/p>\n Best friends of 50 years, John Irvin and Robert Goodwin opened their first wine tasting room in Essington, Pennsylvania in 2019 and added the second location over the summer in Media.<\/p>\n The intimate space offers bar seating, perfect for watching a game while enjoying new dishes, such as their Bikini Shrimp, which pairs well with their Pinot Grigio.<\/p>\n They both worked as engineers before achieving their goal of owning a winery for their retirement.<\/p>\n John Robert Cellars | Facebook<\/a> | Instagram <\/a><\/strong> The Snarky Tea Hous<\/strong>e in Doylestown is a new Alice In Wonderland-themed ‘spot for a spot of tea’. It’s the creation of Jenni-Lyn Williams, who founded Snarky Tea as an e-commerce business for loose leaf teas.<\/p>\n Jenni-Lyn’s sister, Courtney Nicholas, manages the location for guests who visit to have afternoon tea, or to shop in the retail store – or both.<\/p>\n Seatings for tea time last 90 minutes, are by reservation only, and include unlimited choices of Snarky Tea flavors.<\/p>\n Also part of the experience is a tiered tray of treats, like homemade sandwiches, scones, and confections.<\/p>\n The retail shop carries the full line of teas, as well as supplies for making and enjoying tea at home.<\/p>\n The Snarky Tea House<\/a> | Instagram<\/a> | Snarky Tea<\/a> | Instagram<\/a><\/strong> Copyright \u00a9 2025 WPVI-TV.
