HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — ABC13 often brings you stories about illegal dumping, but usually, it’s in a neighborhood and well above ground.<\/p>\n
Court documents state that a north Houston man has been arrested and is accused of digging a hole the size of a small bedroom, then illegally dumping large household items inside of it.<\/p>\n
CenterPoint crews responded to the gated-off area of a transmission corridor with high-voltage equipment on Garden Oaks, near N. Shepherd Drive and West 34th Street, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Court records show a man is accused of digging a large hole behind his house, then filling it with a dishwasher, a fertilizer spreader, commercial copper, and aluminum wire insulation, wood, trash, and other items.<\/p>\n
John Bowser has been officially charged with illegal dumping and criminal mischief.<\/p>\n
Court documents show that investigators say Bowser admitted to the dumping, allegedly stating that it took several weeks to dig the hole, which measured approximately 1,600 cubic feet of solid waste, equivalent to the size of a small bedroom or storage unit.<\/p>\n
According to court records, CenterPoint officials state that removing all the items inside would cost approximately $10,000.<\/p>\n
CenterPoint officials said that doesn’t even account for the cost of disposing of the items and securing the site.<\/p>\n
