{"id":361398,"date":"2025-11-07T04:37:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T04:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/361398\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T04:37:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T04:37:23","slug":"where-you-can-see-the-northern-lights-in-the-us-this-week-including-ny-and-ct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/361398\/","title":{"rendered":"Where you can see the northern lights in the US this week including NY and CT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">NEW YORK &#8212; One of the strongest geomagnetic storms of the year will create auroras in a large swath of the northern continental U.S., possibly even as far south as Oregon and Illinois.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration&#8217;s <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/news\/cme-model-run-posted-nov-6-7-arrival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Space Weather Prediction Center<\/a> is tracking four &#8220;notable&#8221; coronal mass ejections [CME] &#8212; a sudden eruption of plasma and magnetic fields from the Sun&#8217;s corona &#8212; that occurred between Monday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">At least one of the CMEs is expected to arrive late Thursday into early Friday as a strong G3 geomagnetic storm, according to NOAA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Two dozen states could see the northern lights, NOAA&#8217;s <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.swpc.noaa.gov\/products\/aurora-viewline-tonight-and-tomorrow-night-experimental\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">viewline map<\/a> shows: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Some of the northernmost states could continue to see auroras on Friday night, the map shows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">A geomagnetic storm watch will remain until Friday morning, according to NOAA.
