A 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl have died, while another passenger remains in intensive care, in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee after a serious traffic crash.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Doomadgee Road, 400 kilometres north of Mount Isa, at about 6:30am following reports a vehicle had flipped and crashed.<\/p>\n
The driver and four passengers were located with serious injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver, a 30-year-old Cloncurry woman, was administered first aid but died at the scene.<\/p>\n
A passenger, a 10-year-old girl, was transported to Doomadgee Hospital where she was declared deceased.<\/p>\n

Two other passengers were transported to Doomadgee Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and a third passenger is in a critical condition.<\/p>\n
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
A 28-year-old man known to the deceased was taken into custody shortly after.<\/p>\n
Police are urging the community to remain respectful as investigations continue.<\/p>\n
The Queensland Police Service is supporting the Doomadgee community and local officers at this time.<\/p>\n
Shops in the community have closed for Sorry Business, and Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council has shared condolences to the families who lost loved ones on social media.<\/p>\n
