Three men are in a critical condition after a car veered onto a footpath where they were standing following a collision with another vehicle in Sydney’s west.<\/p>\n
Police and emergency services responded just after 9am on Friday to reports three people had been struck at the intersection of Bungarribee Road and Lock Street in Blacktrown.<\/p>\n
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the men at the scene for multiple injuries before they were taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

Blacktown Police Area Command Superintendent Andrew Gorman said the pedestrians, aged between 20 and 30, had “significant injuries”.<\/p>\n
“A westbound vehicle had collided with an eastbound vehicle, and the eastern-bound vehicle then collided with a number of pedestrians who were on the southern side of the intersection,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It will form part of the investigation; speed and the traffic control signals at that intersection.”<\/p>\n
The drivers of a white Toyota Corolla and a maroon Honda CRV, believed to be in their 20s and 30s, were taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.<\/p>\n

A man who was working from home at the time, heard a loud bang coming from the back of his house and went outside to see what had happened.<\/p>\n
“It’s very sad for the family involved in these crashes. It’s very difficult to see, very hard to see this,” he said.<\/p>\n

Abu Naser Kabir has been in the area for nearly 10 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said Bungaribee Road was always busy and while there had been incidents in the past, they had “not been this bad”.<\/p>\n
“Unfortunately, in this intersection we’ve seen a lot of accidents \u2026 I believe this intersection needs to be improved significantly,” he said.<\/p>\n
