Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) <\/a>launched her 2026 gubernatorial campaign Friday, pledging to \u201cclean up Kathy Hochul\u2019s catastrophe\u201d and make New York \u201csafe and affordable\u201d if elected to Albany.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Empire State has fallen,\u201d the narrator states in Stefanik\u2019s dramatic campaign kickoff video, obtained exclusively by The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Imagery of Hochul juxtaposed with bleak headlines<\/a> describing New York\u2019s high tax rates, migrant crime and the \u201cexodus of middle-class\u201d residents mark the first 60 seconds or so of the two-and-a-half-minute video.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cKathy Hochul\u2019s failed policies are to blame,\u201d the narrator continues, arguing that the Democratic incumbent has made New York \u201cthe most unaffordable state in the nation, crushing families with sky-high taxes, unaffordable rent, soaring energy costs and record-high grocery bills.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stefanik\u2019s video slams the governor\u2019s support for New York City\u2019s Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani<\/a>, accusing her of having \u201ccozied up\u201d to a \u201cdefund-the-police, tax-hiking, antisemitic Communist.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The launch video, titled, \u201cFrom the Ashes,\u201d asserts that \u201cNew <\/strong>York will rise, like we always do,\u201d with Stefanik in charge.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe spirit of the Empire State cannot be broken. All we need is a courageous leader ready for the fight,\u201d the ad continues. \u201cElise Stefanik will make New York affordable and safe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stefanik is described as a \u201cworking mom, congresswoman and fighter,\u201d who \u201cknows families need more help.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stefanik is pledging to reverse what she called Gov. Kathy Hochul\u2019s \u201ccatastrophe\u201d and prioritize safety and affordability in New York. Elise Stefanik\/YouTube<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019ll make New York affordable,\u201d the narrator reiterates. \u201cElise will reduce your energy utility and grocery bills.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The video alludes to Stefanik\u2019s successful effort to increase the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap to $40,000, and her fierce questioning of university presidents <\/a>on Capitol Hill amid a spate of antisemitic incidents on college campuses in recent years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe fought woke insanity in our schools, stood proudly with law enforcement, championed small businesses and will never back down from fighting for New York families,\u201d the narrator continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWith everything on the line, we need someone who will deliver results and make New York affordable and safe for families and small businesses, to not just survive, but thrive.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The video promises voters that Stefanik will \u201crestore New York\u2019s greatness,\u201d and concludes with her apparent campaign motto: \u201cElise Stefanik for governor. It\u2019s time to save New York.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have crisscrossed the state. The overwhelming outpouring of support from Republicans, independents and Democrats is that we need a new governor to save our state,\u201d Stefanik told The Post Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stefanik has been eagerly prepping a Hochul challenge, assembling an \u201call-star<\/a>\u201d team of New York-native strategists and staff in key regions \u2014 as polls have started showing her neck and neck against the Democratic incumbent<\/a> in a hypothetical showdown.<\/p>\n
